Can you help??
We are currently looking for an additional volunteer News Editor:
Someone who is able to commit to being an editor once a month.
Editors select the news stories from the local newspapers, mostly from online sources, that your team will record.
You will ensure that these are a true representation of the week’s local news coverage and you’ll edit them to make sure they are suitable for an audio recording.
You will need to be familiar with using search engines to find and select the stories also with a basic knowledge of MS Word, or similar for the scripts.
Time commitment is 2-3 hours one Thursday per month. We estimate that there will also be approx. a further 2-3 hours of your time needed during the week of the recording to search, select and edit your stories.
Please call MertonVision’s office on 020 8540 5446 if you are interested and they will pass on your message.
If that doesn’t appeal, and you are tech savvy, would you be able to help MertonVision?
They are looking for someone to help some of their clients to access digital equipment. Full training with the accessible technology would be provided by MertonVision at the Guardian Centre.
If that’s more in you line, why not give them a call on 020 8540 5446 or email them at [email protected]
Whilst you’re contemplating these opportunities, why not listen to the latest edition of the talking newspaper. This one is number 2142, it was edited by Diane, read by Helen, Denny, Rebecca & Stephen and recorded on 27 January 2022 with Denny and Matthew on the controls?
There is also a new magazine to listen to. This one has been compiled and is presented by Tina Walford.
Both are available on the “Download & Listen” page of the website.
